        Europe launches €80 billion investment alliance to scale up tech leaders

        Europe is expanding its flagship initiative to support tech champions, as the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group, and major institutional investors and asset managers together with the support of the governments of all 27 EU countries are teaming up to mobilise up to €80 billion for investment into highly innovative companies scaling up to become global leaders.

        Finland: The City of Joensuu receives €18 million EU grant and €120 million EIB loan for advancing a just transition and sustainable urban development

        The urban development project in Joensuu is supported by the European Union under the Public Sector Loan Facility (PSLF), with a grant of €18 million complementing a €120 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) and bringing the total project budget to €160 million. The remaining financing is provided by the City of Joensuu through its own resources (€22 million).

        Finland: Company Wirepas gets €24 million in EIB financing to advance self-repairing large-scale wireless networks

        The European Investment Bank (EIB) is providing €24 million in financing to Wirepas, a Finnish deep-tech company developing wireless connectivity for large-scale industrial Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Wirepas will use the EIB backing to bolster research, development and innovation activities in Finland and France as well as business growth in Europe and beyond.
