Renewal of Dario Scannapieco as Vice-President of the EIB

The Board of Directors decided, on 9 July 2013, to submit a proposal to the Board of Governors for the renewal of the term of office of Mr Dario Scannapieco as Vice-President and Member of the Management Committee, for a further period of six years commencing on 16 August 2013.

The written procedure inviting the Board of Governors to vote on the proposed renewal was launched on 15 July 2013.

The decision to reappoint Mr Scannapieco was taken on 30 July 2013, the date on which the requisite majority of votes was reached. The term of office of Mr Scannapieco has therefore been renewed as from 16 August 2013.

Nadia Calviño takes over as EIB President

Nadia Calviño took over as president of the European Investment Bank on 1 January, replacing Werner Hoyer. The eighth president of the EU bank, Calviño is the first woman to lead the institution. She is also the first Spaniard to head the Bank.

COP28: The EIB and Meridiam showcase a new investment initiative to protect vulnerable cities in Africa from climate change

On Monday December 4th, at COP28 in Dubai, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and Meridiam presented the first project – in Mauritania - to be developed and financed by The Urban Resilience Fund (TURF). The Nouakchott Coastline Development Project, managed by Meridiam, aims at protecting Mauritania’s capital city from coastal erosion and flooding, while also developing new activities to the benefit of its communities.
