    Habitat III is the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development which, since 1976, occurs once every 20 years since 1976. The third edition of this major and global UN event will take place in Quito, Ecuador, from 17 – 20 October 2016.

    Habitat III is an opportunity for key decision makers and stakeholders from around the world to set the New Urban Agenda for the next decades.

    The EIB will contribute to Habitat III through participating in a number of events and high-level meetings around the implementation of the New Urban Agenda. The EIB delegation to Quito consists of senior experts and officials, and is headed by Vice-President Jan Vapaavuori.

    Description: The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) is an intergovernmental organization bringing together 43 countries: 28 European Commission Member States and 15 from the Southern and Eastern shores of the Mediterranean. It is an action-oriented organization, which provides a unique forum to enhance regional dialogue and cooperation amongst its Member States through the implementation of concrete projects. In April 2014, the UfM Secretariat officially launched the Urban Projects Finance Initiative (UPFI). Read more
