The European Microfinance Week is the major annual event of the microfinance industry, bringing together banks and financial institutions, government agencies, NGOs, consultancy firms, researchers and universities for high level and in-depth discussions. This year the theme is “Financial Inclusion for Sustainable Development”.

This annual event is organised by the European Microfinance Platform (e-MFP) and supported by the Luxembourg Government. The EIB is a sponsor of the event and, as well as participating in some discussions, is hosting the 6th European Microfinance Award ceremony at its headquarters on Thursday 19 November, in presence of the Grand Duchess. The award recognises the important role microfinance plays in finding innovative solutions to environmental issues.

European Microfinance Week will feature several plenaries and discussions on topics relevant to the theme, and will offer microfinance actors ample networking opportunities.
