The EIB has observer status at COP 21, the annual meeting of global leader and climate action specialists. Global nations will negotiate and shape their contributions to reduce carbon emission and promote climate-resilient growth in Europe as well as in developing and emerging countries. A key objective in these negotiations will be achieving a legally binding and universal agreement on climate, with the aim of keeping global warming below 2°C.  This year, the conference will be held in Paris, France from 30 November to 11 December.

The EIB delegation to Paris consists of high-level experts and officials, and is headed by EIB President Hoyer and the Vice-President Jonathan Taylor, responsible for Climate Change and Environment.

The Bank will also share its unique expertise in a number of panel discussions and cooperate with different organisations to showcase their climate finance products. This year, the EIB has partnered with UNEP Climate Action and with the World Climate Summit, and will also feature at several side events, roundtables and discussions, including the Caring for Climate Business Forum, a high-level meeting on mobilising climate finance for development action amongst CEOs, Ministers and UN delegates.

The EIB will also have an exhibit booth where delegates can learn more about our climate action activities.
