Education:

  • Graduate of the Franco-Hellenic Leonine School;
  • Studied Business Administration at the Athens University of Economics and Business (1986);
  • “Licence Spéciale” in EU Economics (1989);
  • “Certificate” in Public Management (1990);
  • “Maîtrise” in International Relations (1993) from the University of Brussels (ULB).
  • Languages: French, English, Spanish and Italian

Professional Experience:

  • Began his career at the European Commission in 1987 in the Directorates General for Financial Control (trainee), Research, Technology and Development and, from 1995, Regional Policy. As a senior officer in the Directorate-General for Regional Policy he represented the European Commission in various assignments in Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Portugal, Italy and Denmark.
  • From 2004, Secretary General for Investments and Development in the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Greece.
  • Responsible for the co-ordination of Programmes co-financed by the European Union, the central reporting to the European Commission and the management of all funding (national and Community funds) towards the development goals of the country’s economic policy (Public Investment Programme). In charge of the formation and implementation of state aid granted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance to enterprises for private investments in Greece (Chairman of the central committee for application of the Investment Incentives Law, Member of the Steering Committee of the National Programme for Balkans Reconstruction, Member of the National Committee promoting investments).

Other Professional Activities:

  • Member of the International Institute of Administrative Studies, the Greek Employees Association of International Organisations, the Economic Chamber of Greece and a Member of the National Council of Competitiveness and Development.
  • Keynote speaker in regional development topics in conferences, several national and international fora;
  • Publication of articles of European interest in Greek and Cypriot newspapers.
