Career:

  • April 2004 - present: Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic. Director General of the State Reporting Section:
    • Managing of the state accounting and reporting department responsible for accounting books of specific budgetary captions (e.g. State Debt), aggregation and consolidation of the financial statements of public sector in accordance with national standards and accounting methodology for the public sector entities.
    • Managing of the department responsible for the national accounts compilation in accordance with ESA 95 (Eurostat) and GFS 2001 (IMF).
    • Managing of the department responsible for the State Debt, loans from international financial institutions (World Bank, EIB, etc&), collection of state receivables, state guarantees and preparation of international investment treaties.
    • Member of the Supervisory Board of Centralny depozitar cennych papierov, a.s.
  • April 2003 - March 2004: Sole practitioner
    • Economic and accounting advisory services, audit services
    • Administration and coordination of World Bank's Grant for Accounting and Auditing Reform in Slovakia
  • September 1995 - March 2003: KPMG Slovensko, spol.s.r.o. up to audit manager
    • Planning and leading of external audits of various trade and production companies. Coached junior members of audit department. Preparation of report for clients.
    • Audits for financial statements prepared in accordance with Slovak GAAP, IAS (IFRS) and other national standards (US GAAP).
    • Managing of relationships with small to big - sized companies including day to day communication, contracts negotiations and presentation of results (client liaison)
    • Two months secondment with KPMG in Brussels in audit department.
  • Other professional activities:
    • Member of master trainers group responsible for designing of new accounting and auditing curriculum at Slovak universities, preparation of text and case studies books of auditing for Slovak universities and provision of trainings to universities teachers (on-going, project is financed from World Bank and Canadian International Development Agency)
    • Member of SKAu Committee for Accounting Standards for public sector (IPSAS)

Education:

  • Professional qualification:
    • Slovak Chamber of Auditors (SKAu) - Slovak statutory auditor (January 2003)
    • Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) (June 2000)
  • 1993 - 1995: University of Economics in Bratislava - Degree in accountancy and auditing
  • 1988 - 1993: Slovak Technical University - Degree in chemistry, Automation and control systems in chemical production processes
  • Language skills:
    • English - fluent
    • French - intermediate

  • Co-author of the translation of IFAC 2003 Handbook of International Auditing, Assurance and Ethics Pronouncements for the Slovak Chamber of Auditors under IFAC permission from English language to Slovak language
