Proposals for EIBURS
- Only University Departments and Research Centres belonging to Universities located in the EU, Acceding or Accession Countries are eligible for the EIBURS programme.
- They may apply for only one of the sponsorships.
- The candidate centre must have a solid reputation in the corresponding line of research.
- Only individual institutions with the legal capacity to sign a contract with the EIB may apply.
- The centre may, however, propose joint activities with other public and private partners. Indeed, the fact that it belongs to research networks, particularly those focused on the proposed line of research or to EIB-sponsored ones, will be viewed positively.
The quality of the research carried out in the centre, the quality of the activities proposed, the staff assigned and the management structure for the EIBURS, along with the capacity to host and work with EIB staff and the potential to send trainees to the EIB are the main criteria to appraise the bids.
The CBU decides on the best candidate for each proposal. A negotiation process with the selected centre to specify outputs will precede signature of a contract. Failure to come to an agreement regarding the outputs will entail the negotiation of the sponsorship with the second best candidate, and so on. The final decision of the Committee is irrevocable.
