How do they cooperate with the EIB?
MDBs maintain cooperative institutional and operational links with each other to ensure effective mutual inputs in their respective fields of activity.
For its operations outside the Union, the EIB is therefore in close contact with the World Bank and numerous regional multilateral banks, in particular the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development operating in Central and Eastern Europe.
Cooperation between the EIB and MDBs takes the form of both exchanges of information on their respective priorities and action plans and joint project appraisal missions. Cofinancing decisions relating to a growing number of projects give practical expression to these cooperative ties.
Lastly, the EIB participates in the annual general meetings of other multilateral banks, notably the World Bank and the EBRD. It is also a shareholder in the latter, alongside the European Union.
