Civil Society Events
The EIB actively ensures an on-going dialogue with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) on issues of common interest through events, such as its Annual Briefing, Spring and Autumn Workshops, and specialist multi-stakeholder or bilateral meetings.
The Annual CSO Briefing by the EIB Vice-President responsible for relations with the Civil Society takes place in the 1st quarter of the year, usually back-to-back with the Bank's Annual News Conference, with a view to report on the Bank's results and activities of the previous year.
The agenda of the Spring and Autumn Workshops is set jointly by the EIB and interested CSOs. Recent workshops tackled among others the following topics:
- Disclosure and transparency policies
- Social and environmental matters linked to financing operations
- Climate change and energy
- Transport
- Development issues
Informal meetings between specialised EIB staff and NGO representatives serve as occasions to exchange views on topics of common interest and allow the Bank to get a better understanding of CSOs views and positions.
EIB staff also takes part in a range of CSO events on EIB policies and activities.
