European Court of Auditors

Article 287 (3) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU (TFEU) stipulates that the Court is responsible for examining the accounts of all revenue and expenditure of the European Union. The results of audits conducted by the Court are published (www.eca.europa.eu). Although the Bank has its own independent external audit structure, the deployment of public funds from the EU or the European Development Fund managed by the Bank under mandate is also subject to control by the Court.

The agreement (entitled "Tripartite Agreement") mentioned in Article 287 (3) of the TFEU governs cooperation between the institutions involved in the management of such funds: the Bank, the Commission and the Court of Auditors.
