Reporting on Corporate Responsibility
We report regularly on the implementation of the targets in our corporate operational plan through yearly independent assessment.
Global Reporting Initiative guidelines
We have adhered to the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines since 2006, becoming an Organisational Stakeholder of the GRI in 2008. The last independent assessment of our corporate responsibility concluded that we showed substantial evidence of commitment to and control of managerial factors. Between 2007-2011 we met our GRI requirements to at least application level B+, reaching A+ in 2011. We are the first international financial institution to achieve GRI application level A+.
This demonstrates EIB best in class corporate responsibility management strategy that draws on constant attention to key impacts, corporate responsibility policies, procedures, training strategy, goals, internal controls and ultimately leads to prime corporate responsibility performance.
Additional information can be found on our Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) section.
Corporate responsibility management
We have published a corporate responsibility report annually since 2005. In 2011, it was the first by a multilateral financial and European institution to fulfil GRI checked requirements to level A+.
Carbon footprint reports
An independent report on our carbon emissions is published annually.
Subsidies reports
The vast majority of our activity is through lending but we make relatively small grants to a limited number of social, humanitarian and cultural activities. In 2011, 23 projects were approved receiving total grants of EUR 69 000 (see the Subsidies Committee Annual Report 2011). These are organised through the EIB Institute.
