The EIB Institute has been created to manage the EIB Group’s community engagement with greater transparency, efficiency and effectiveness. The Institute is an organisational entity without legal personality within the EIB Group and is separate from the Bank’s operational structure. The Institute seeks to harness existing EIB Group community-related activities in a structured and organised framework and encourages EIB Group staff (and retirees) to get involved in its social, philanthropic, educational, research and cultural activities.
The EIB Institute is dedicated to promoting EU objectives by supporting ‘European initiatives for the common good’. As a catalyst for action, economic and social development is directly linked to the cohesion and economic convergence objectives of the EIB Group.
Under the umbrella of the Institute three flagship programmes have been established; the Knowledge, Social and Arts Programmes. The Institute uses a variety of instruments, including grants, scholarships and prizes, to develop the goals and strategic objectives of each of its programmes.
