In the selection of staff, account is taken not only of personal ability and qualifications but also of an equitable representation of nationals of Member States, although we do not have any strict quotas. The EIB hires its staff, including management staff, mostly from amongst nationals of the 27 EU Member States that are the Bank’s shareholders. However for its regional offices outside the EU, the Bank might hire local staff,  who are non-EU citizens.
