In 2009 the EIB became part of the Long-Term Investors Club, whose sole purpose is to support social and environmental improvement through long-term investment, in accordance with internationally recognised social and environmental responsibility policies.

The World Conservation Union (IUCN) and the European Investment Bank signed a framework for cooperation on strengthening awareness about nature when financing investment projects.

Since 2008, the EIB has been an observer at meetings of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as an intergovernmental organisation.

For its reporting, the Bank became an organisation stakeholder of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in 2008 and has been following the G3 guidelines since 2006.

In 2008, the Bank also became a member of the Institut pour le Mouvement Sociétal, a cluster of corporations working towards the development of corporate social responsibility policies  in Luxembourg.

Cooperation with multilateral development banks: the Evaluation Cooperation Group (ECG). Since 1996, the ex post evaluation service has been an active member of the ECG, whose members include the evaluation teams of the World Bank Group, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the African Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as well as representatives of the International Monetary Fund, the OECD-DAC (Development Assistance Committee) and the UNDP.

The EIB is a member of the European Microfinance Platform, whose principal objective is to promote cooperation amongst European microfinance bodies working in developing countries.

The EIB is a member of the Luxembourg Fund Labelling Agency, which supports the financing of sustainable development.
