The EIB’s prime tasks in the EU are strengthening social and economic cohesion, financing SMEs, supporting the knowledge economy, developing the trans-European networks (TENs), protecting the environment, and ensuring sustainable, competitive and secure energy. Outside the EU, the EIB also supports EU policy towards its neighbours and other parts of the world.
Since 2005, the Bank has created a dedicated communication channel on corporate responsibility for its stakeholders, publishing an annual corporate responsibility report. The Bank is committed to building long-term relationships of trust, respect and integrity with its stakeholders.
Through the ongoing stakeholder mapping process we aim to take a structured approach to properly identifying our different stakeholders and their needs and determining the corresponding levels of engagement. Please refer to the stakeholders map provided in cross-reference.
The process for defining the report’s contents is based on our previous reports and will follow a similar structure. It will focus on the finance we provide and the measures we take to promote sustainability. In addition, it will examine our corporate governance and stakeholder relations. Finally, the report will also take into account the internal measures we take to mitigate our carbon footprint.
The topics will be prioritised based on the above-mentioned order and we envisage our stakeholders to be the main users of this report.
